Job description

Join to apply for the (Remote) Senior Software Developer role at Harris Computer.

Analyze business requirements; identify product impact and possible implementation options and recommend the solution that best suits the needs of the customers and HLG.

1. Create and maintain application code that meets design specifications, follows HLG standards, and is easy to maintain.
2. Perform code review for technical accuracy, standards, and functional compliance to the requirements.
3. Provide Level 2 support of our applications.
4. Estimate work as requested.
5. Work within deadlines related to product release timelines, and complete development tasks on time.
6. Fulfill administrative reporting requirements.
7. Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Experience / Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of IBM AS/400 (PowerSystems) RPG-ILE programming experience.
• Experience with IBM AS/400 hardware/software migrations.
• Hardware troubleshooting experience with IBM AS/400 and peripherals.
• Strong interpretative skills for software requirements specifications.
• Experience working in a team environment developing software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer-service orientation.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• IBM DB2 experience.

Preferred but Not Required:

• Experience with testing methodologies.
• Knowledge of county government software, billing, or financial systems.
• Knowledge of VTL, RDX drives, and Evault cloud backup.
• Basic knowledge of IBM Web Instances and PHP.
