Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior SDET II to automate the SDLC pipeline—from testing through deployment and validation—across our Platform Engineering Team in Compute.

The role emphasizes scalable, reliable cloud-native platform services including Service Mesh and Control plane. You will work with engineering teams to design tests, troubleshoot deployment issues, and build automated test frameworks for unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Demonstrate experience in building Kubernetes workflows and testing products built on Kubernetes platform.
• Experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, Github Actions, SaltStack.
• Solid Linux fundamentals, especially around performance tuning.
• Solid Bash and scripting fundamentals.
• Deep knowledge of network fundamentals (VRF, HTTP, TLS, TCP/IP, DNS, etc.).
• Understanding of modern software development lifecycle processes and SLO monitoring/alerting.

Responsibilities

• Working with engineering teams to identify how to test proposed changes
• Investigating and troubleshooting deployment-related issues, identifying root causes and providing recommendations for solutions in various environments
• Developing and maintaining automated test frameworks for code changes, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests
• Creating and maintaining test plans and test cases for platform tools (i.e. Service Mesh, APIs, Control plane) to cover relevant scenarios and edge cases
• Collaborating in integration testing with other engineering groups and suggesting improvements to testing environments
• Investigating requirements for safe deployment and rollback strategies, and verifying all requirements during the deployment process
• Writing and maintaining scripts to automate platform service deployment
