Job summary

Simplify Alpha in the United States is seeking a senior QA Engineer to lead mainframe modernization efforts, focusing on validating legacy COBOL/IMS/DB2 against AWS workloads. The role combines hands-on mainframe testing with building Python and Go automation to prove equivalence across parallel runs and data migrations.

You will own test strategy, mentor a QA team, work with cloud engineers, and ensure cutover readiness, batch equivalence, and compliant data handling in production-like

Qualifications

• Mandatory – Mainframe Testing experience with COBOL, JCL, and copybooks.
• 10–12 years in software testing, with at least 4 years on mainframe applications or data.
• Ability to read COBOL and JCL; knowledge of PL/I, copybooks, and EBCDIC vs ASCII.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 z/OS, IMS DB, VSAM, and 3270 emulators; batch schedulers.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the end-to-end test strategy for mainframe modernization projects.
• Analyze legacy COBOL/JCL to derive test conditions and expected outcomes.
• Execute and validate batch and online scenarios on z/OS with CA-7/Control-M.
• Run parallel tests comparing legacy and modernized systems; classify differences.
• Validate data migration to AWS targets with row counts, checksums, and precision.
• Ensure batch equivalence across AWS Step Functions, SQS, SNS, and EventBridge.
• Build automation in Python (pytest, boto3) and Go for high-throughput utilities.
• Collaborate with developers and cloud engineers; mentor QA staff.
