Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer - Playwright & Selenium to join our Quality Engineering team, focusing on critical financial applications. You will design, execute, and maintain automated and manual tests, perform API testing, data validation, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure application quality and performance throughout the SDLC.

The role emphasizes automation, cross-functional teamwork, and a focus on delivery in an Agile setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance and Testing.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and maintain functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end test cases for web-based and business-critical applications.
• Develop and maintain UI automation test scripts using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript and Selenium WebDriver with Java.
• Build reusable automation components using Page Object Model (POM) and data-driven testing.
• Automate critical business workflows and regression scenarios to improve test coverage and execution efficiency.
• Perform API functional and integration testing using Postman, REST Assured, Playwright API testing, or similar tools.
• Develop automated API tests to validate payloads, status codes, headers, and backend flows.
• Execute data validation using SQL queries to verify data accuracy across UI, APIs, and databases.
• Integrate automated UI and API tests with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
• Analyze test results and publish clear test reports.
• Collaborate with stakeholders during UAT and release validation.
• Identify, document, and retest defects using Jira or Azure DevOps.
