payabl. is seeking a Senior Product Security Engineer to embed security into the software development lifecycle across our engineering organization.

You will design security gates, champion secure-by-default patterns, and lead AI-assisted security workflows without slowing product delivery. This fully remote role from Portugal or Poland reports to the Head of Information Security and involves collaboration with engineering teams, threat modelling, and driving secure deployment across

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Product Security or Application Security in fintech/payments environments.
• Hands-on experience embedding security into the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to read code and discuss design with senior engineers.
• Experience with threat modelling and secure-by-design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design and introduce security gates in the development lifecycle and guardrails for secure deployment.
• Lead threat modelling for new products and major changes.
• Provide secure-by-design input for products including card issuing and embedded finance.
• Define secure-by-default architecture patterns for authentication, authorization, API design, and service-to-service trust.
• Own CI/CD pipeline and software supply-chain security controls across teams.
• Implement and improve container image scanning, SBOM, and security checks on IaC and deployment manifests.
