Job summary

National Philanthropic Trust is seeking a Director, Philanthropic Advising to guide major philanthropists and institutions in defining giving strategies and impact measurement.

With 9+ years in philanthropic advising and deep knowledge of grantmaking, you will lead engagements, design research, and translate insights into actionable guidance. This remote role offers a competitive salary of $125,000–$150,000 plus a 12% discretionary bonus and hybrid travel to Philadelphia-area HQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Masters preferred.
• 9+ years of relevant professional experience, including philanthropic advising or similar advisory roles.
• Demonstrated success navigating multi-stakeholder engagements.
• Excellent writing and synthesis skills; ability to translate complex ideas into concise narratives.
• Strong analytical and project management skills with attention to detail.
• Deep knowledge of philanthropic strategy, grantmaking, and issue-area research.
• Strong relationship-building skills with clients and partners.
• Commitment to discretion and client confidentiality.
• Integrity, professionalism, and collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities

• Engage with philanthropists, families, or foundations as advisory engagements.
• Design and deliver custom initiatives and research solutions grounded in analysis.
• Lead client workshops, strategy sessions, and governance meetings to guide decisions.
• Develop and manage project work plans meeting high standards of quality and impact.
• Lead or supervise deep-dive research on philanthropy issues and sector analysis.
• Synthesize information into clear client-facing materials and strategy guidance.
• Translate research into actionable client strategies and giving guidance.
• Contribute to donor resources, case studies, and thought leadership publications.
• Collaborate with Communications to develop materials that reflect expertise.
• Support business development through prospect meetings and proposals.
• Represent NPT at philanthropy events and maintain field visibility.
• Mentor team members and promote cross-functional collaboration.
• Uphold NPT values of integrity, discretion, and innovation.
