Job summary

Turquoise Health is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer for a fully remote role within the United States. The position focuses on making our data platform faster and more scalable by applying data science to product experiences and improving interactions with large healthcare datasets.

You will investigate performance issues, design data architecture changes, and collaborate with Product, frontend, and backend engineers to optimize data handling, caching, and query execution across the system

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production data systems
• Advanced SQL, Python or similar
• Experience with columnar databases or data warehouses
• Experience reorganizing data structures to boost performance
• Using profiling/telemetry to diagnose performance problems

Responsibilities

• Own performance investigations across the product and data stack
• Design and evaluate data architecture changes
• Collaborate with Product, frontend, and backend engineers to adapt product behavior
• Develop benchmarks for important filters, datasets, and workflows
• Measure latency, throughput, concurrency, and infrastructure costs, with focus on ClickHouse Cloud
• Assess impact of upstream dataset changes before production
• Propose and validate approaches balancing functionality, speed, and cost
• Improve instrumentation, monitoring, and regression detection
• Establish reusable patterns for the Data Product platform
