Job summary

System One seeks a Nuclear I&C Design Engineer for a contract role in Bellevue, WA. You will interface with a geographically diverse design team to develop and review system and component specifications, ensuring compliance with nuclear codes, licensing requirements, and NRC regulations.

You should have a B.S. in Controls or Electrical and 10+ years of I&C experience, with strong writing and communication skills and proficiency in CAD tools.

Qualifications

• B.S. or higher in Controls, Electrical, or related discipline from an accredited university and 10+ years of direct experience with proven instrumentation and controls systems skills.
• Experience in instrumentation and controls development and ability to design and deliver industrial I&C platforms.
• Experience with nuclear reactor safety systems or nuclear instrumentation systems desired but not required.
• Familiar with IEEE and IEC standards; familiarity with nuclear power plant QA (e.g., 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1).
• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks) desired but not required.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and lead a design team.

Responsibilities

• Interface with diverse and international design team members to develop design documentation.
• Develop and review system- and component-level specifications and scopes of work.
• Apply nuclear codes, standards, licensing requirements, and NRC regulations to engineering tasks.
• Specify instrumentation measurement techniques for sodium fast reactor and energy storage tech.
• Analyze regulatory criteria and apply to I&C system design.
• Create and review System Requirements Documents and Interface Control Documents.
• Produce drawing packages including P&IDs and control system architecture diagrams.
• Provide technical direction and oversight of supplier projects and deliverables.
• Support continuous improvement and integration of I&C with other disciplines.
