Job summary

Blue Water Thinking seeks a Senior Software Developer to lead backend and application-layer work on a portfolio of VA apps. You will architect, code, and secure cloud solutions in Azure, migrating SSRS to Power BI and modernizing WebForms to ASP.NET Core within the VAEC framework.

You will mentor junior developers, maintain ATO artifacts, and ensure compliance with VA security requirements in a fully remote US role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Significant experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud Solutions and related services.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and sustain the DMC custom-built VA applications portfolio.
• Provide technical leadership for backend and application-layer development using .NET and Azure.
• Build and maintain scalable, secure cloud infrastructure in Azure.
• Ensure security, stability, and VA-ATO compliance (FIPS 199 Moderat).
• Lead SSRS-to-Power BI migration and WebForms-to-ASP.NET Core modernization.
• Design and maintain complex SQL Server databases and advanced T-SQL objects.
• Maintain data dictionaries and metadata documentation; ensure data traceability.
• Director and code-review junior developers; guide architecture decisions.
• Maintain all ATO artifacts and remediation efforts as needed.
• Support ongoing security practices and vulnerability remediation.
