Reddit, Inc. is seeking an ML performance engineer to own end-to-end optimization of high-impact production ML workloads. You will diagnose bottlenecks in model execution, runtimes, memory, and infrastructure, and implement measurable improvements.

This role supports remote work from anywhere in the US or Canada. You will collaborate with ranking, serving, and ML Platform teams, build benchmarks and tooling, mentor engineers, and help ensure safe, scalable deployments while preserving model

Qualifications

• Hands-on ML performance engineering experience in prod or prod-relevant workloads.
• Deep expertise in at least one ML performance area (inference, runtimes, GPU, memory).
• Strong profiling, benchmarking, and baseline establishment skills.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals in Python and systems programming.
• Familiarity with production ML frameworks and performance trade-offs.
• Judgment to balance performance with model quality and reliability.
• Customer/platform instincts with maintainability and reuse in mind.
• Clear communication to explain trade-offs to engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end performance optimization initiatives for high-impact production ML workloads.
• Profile and diagnose ML bottlenecks across model execution, frameworks, runtimes, and memory.
• Design and implement performance improvements in inference, memory, and kernels.
• Improve ML training and serving efficiency, latency, throughput, and cost.
• Support faster model launches with benchmarking, load testing, and regression checks.
• Partner with model engineers and platform teams to validate end-to-end impact.
• Build reusable performance benchmarks, tooling, and guidance for future deployments.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, debugging, and knowledge sharing.
