Job summary

Inhabit is seeking a Senior Merchant Credit and Risk Analyst to monitor payments activity and mitigate risk across the Payments Division. You will investigate alerts, support underwriting, and partner with Product/Engineering to enhance risk platforms.

The role requires deep experience in payments risk, KYB/KYC, OFAC, and compliance, with a strong ability to translate operations into technical requirements and collaborate across teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in payments risk, transaction monitoring, fraud operations, merchant underwriting, or related risk roles.
• Direct merchant acquiring experience is required.
• Experience in PayFac, payment processor, fintech, ISO, or banking environments preferred.
• Strong understanding of transaction monitoring, fraud indicators, portfolios, chargebacks, ACH returns, and loss prevention.
• Experience supporting merchant underwriting including KYB, KYC, OFAC, credit reports, and financial review.
• Knowledge of card brand rules, NACHA/ACH guidelines, and AML/BSA compliance.
• Ability to learn systems deeply and translate operational needs into requirements.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, Sales, Operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor merchant and transaction activity to identify suspicious or high-risk behavior across payment channels.
• Investigate alerts, unusual activity, fraud indicators, chargebacks, and other risk signals.
• Review escalated transactions and merchant activity; document findings and recommendations.
• Support merchant underwriting, onboarding reviews, and periodic account reviews as needed.
• Partner with Product & Engineering to improve risk tools, workflows, and reporting.
• Translate risk and compliance needs into platform requirements and testing scenarios.
• Mentor junior analysts in underwriting, monitoring, and fraud investigations.
