Job summary

GEICO seeks a Senior Manager for Government & Regulatory Affairs to lead state legislative and regulatory engagement across California, with travel as needed. You will build coalitions, influence policymakers, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to advance GEICO’s interests in a dynamic regulatory environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ relevant government affairs experience with knowledge of insurance regulation, regulatory law, or related public policy fields.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills tailored to different audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and develop lobbying strategies.

Responsibilities

• Policymaker engagement: build relationships with state legislators, agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to advocate GEICO’s positions.
• Regulatory & legislative analysis: review and evaluate insurance regulatory and legislative proposals and keep business units informed.
• Strategic monitoring & reporting: identify evolving regulatory trends and communicate insights to leadership.
• Strategic support: develop policy positions, draft language, and prepare for legislative/regulatory interactions.
• Coalition building: coordinate with external resources to advance GEICO’s public priorities.

Education

Juris Doctor (JD) degree
