Job summary

Securian Financial Group is seeking a Senior Consultant to apply deep accounting expertise to life, annuity, and related reinsurance products. You will shape reporting, governance, and controls across multiple entities, aligning statutory, GAAP, and Bermuda standards while partnering with finance, actuarial, risk, audit, tech, and business teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Mathematics, or related field.
• 7+ years experience in reinsurance and/or product, insurance, financial reporting accounting.
• Strong knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting and reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve complex accounting issues independently.
• Experience leading projects and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary accounting expert for life, annuity, and affiliated reinsurance products.
• Lead the interpretation and application of statutory, GAAP, and Bermuda accounting requirements.
• Manage the preparation, review, and delivery of financial reporting across multiple legal entities and accounting bases.
• Establish and implement accounting policies and reporting practices for new products, transactions, and reinsurance structures.
• Provide technical direction to accountants, actuaries, and other contributors.
• Lead projects with significant financial reporting or business impact.
• Support audits, regulatory reviews, and communications with auditors, examiners, and rating agencies.
• Maintain documentation, controls, and accounting governance practices.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and effectiveness.
