Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Backend Developer (Java/Spring) to design, build, and secure enterprise Java services and APIs for transfer agency and fixed income processing. You will work with a cross-functional team including architects, QA, and DevSecOps.

You will ensure secure, scalable backend capabilities with REST APIs, batch processing, and audit logging, while supporting FedRAMP High compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of enterprise backend development experience.
• Strong expertise with Java 17 or later, Spring Boot, Spring Security, OAuth2, and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle SQL, Hibernate, and stored procedures.
• Experience with CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub or Bitbucket, Swagger/OpenAPI, Azure-based deployment patterns, unit testing, and API testing.
• Proficiency with JasperReports, Quartz, SOAP, Apache CXF, JMeter, Dynatrace, Log4j, and secure SDLC practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop Java and Spring-based services supporting transfer registration, shareholder and account records, fixed income events, income and principal processing, corporate action workflows, reporting, and reconciliation support.
• Design and maintain REST APIs, service orchestration, batch and scheduled processing, database interactions, data validation, exception handling, and audit logging.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, input validation, secrets handling, encryption-aware integrations, and vulnerability remediation aligned with FedRAMP High expectations.
• Ensure transactional integrity, regulatory auditability, and resilient service design across high-volume processing workflows.
• Partner with architects, analysts, QA, DevSecOps, and security teams to deliver reliable, testable, and supportable backend capabilities.
