Job summary

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a Staff Auditor to evaluate internal controls across HFHI headquarters, international offices, and select programs in the U.S. and abroad. The role is remote within the US with 40-60% travel.

The Staff Auditor will plan and perform audits, document findings, and contribute to the IAD annual risk-based plan while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, IT, or related field.
• 3–5 years of external and internal audit experience, preferably with public accounting.
• Experience with international travel and cross-cultural communication.
• Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written.
• Strong critical thinking and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, execution, and reporting on audits across designated areas.
• Prepare audit planning memos, risk-based programs, and test plans.
• Conduct audit fieldwork, findings, and recommendations in line with IPPF and HFHI standards.
• Peer review audit documentation to ensure quality and consistency.
• Draft audit reports and monitor quality of reports.
• Document processes, test results, and monitor outstanding recommendations.
• Coordinate monitoring of audit recommendations and assist in risk-based planning.
• Lead assigned audits and provide guidance to junior staff.
• Support other internal audit activities as needed.
