Job summary

NXTThing RPO is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer with strong Ruby on Rails, React, and AWS skills to build scalable web applications and robust architectures. This long-term contract role requires hands-on design, mentoring, and collaboration with product and engineering teams while aligning with East Coast hours.

You will design REST and GraphQL APIs, optimize PostgreSQL schemas, and deploy containerized apps on AWS, leveraging CI/CD and observability tools. Remote work is supported.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Ruby on Rails and deep Ruby ecosystem.
• Solid object-oriented programming and scalable architecture principles.
• Extensive experience with React.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Strong TypeScript experience in modern React apps.
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, responsive design.
• Familiarity with Redux/React Context for state management.
• Knowledge of RESTful API design, GraphQL, and secure APIs.
• Experience with PostgreSQL database design, indexing, and performance.
• Experience integrating multiple databases and external data sources.
• Comfort with AI-assisted development tools and evaluating AI-generated code critically.
• Understanding of MVC, ORM, and domain-driven design.
• Docker experience and containerized app development.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on AWS deployment and management.
• Web security principles, authentication/authorization, OWASP.
• Git and modern version-control workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Ability to own projects from conception to deployment.
• Overlap East Coast hours at least 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable web apps with Rails backend and React frontend.
• Architect robust, secure backend solutions with data source integrations.
• Develop responsive front-end interfaces using React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, indexing, and performance.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.
• Ensure code quality via reviews, tests, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver features.
• Work with AWS services to ensure availability, scalability, and security.
• Maintain containerized apps with Docker and monitor systems.
