Job summary

Randstad Digital Americas seeks a Senior Front-End Developer to implement a production-ready design system based on IBM Carbon for a West Michigan client. This remote role follows EST hours and focuses on creating a maintainable theming layer and reusable components within an approved Meijer repository.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of front-end experience, strong React skills, and a track record building or extending design systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of front-end development including production design systems or reusable components.
• Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of modern CSS architecture, tokens and theming.
• Experience with React and modern build/package-management practices.
• Experience consuming or extending open-source component libraries.
• Experience implementing design tokens across environments.
• Ability to translate design specs (Figma) into code and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Implement a design system based on IBM Carbon for Meijer.
• Create a maintainable theming layer and integrate into approved repository.
• Ensure accessibility, performance, and maintainability throughout the work.
• Deliver 3–5 custom components and Data Table with proper integration.
• Produce stand-alone documentation and usage examples for developers.
