Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Director, Full-stack Engineer to lead multiple product-focused software teams and shape enterprise platform strategy.

You will drive technical decisions, mentor engineers, and align roadmaps with scalable cloud-based capabilities across AWS, Azure and GCP. You will partner with product managers and executives to deliver customer-centric banking solutions while promoting a culture of engineering excellence, diversity, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum 7 years of people management experience.
• Minimum 9 years of software engineering and solution architecture experience.
• Minimum 9 years of enterprise architecture and design patterns experience.
• Minimum 9 years of cloud computing experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Minimum 9 years of data architecture experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers.
• Shape long-term technical strategy and architecture standards for enterprise platforms.
• Partner with senior engineering and business leaders to align product roadmaps with scalable technology capabilities.
• Drive talent strategy, ensuring succession planning, skill development, and equitable opportunity across engineering teams.
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team.
• Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios and develop market-driven application capabilities and customer experiences.
• Continuously improve software engineering practices.
• Work with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies.
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions.
• Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor others in the engineering community.
• Encourage innovation, inclusion, and cross-functional collaboration across the organization.
• Improve velocity of teams and deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments
