Job summary

Huntress, a remote-first cybersecurity company, seeks a Senior Detection Engineering and Threat Hunting Analyst to join the DE&TH team. You will detect stealthy intrusions, validate hypotheses, and develop scalable detections across identities and endpoints.

You will collaborate with the SOC, design high-fidelity detections, hunt across telemetry, and produce actionable incident reports for partners while leveraging AI responsibly.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in detection engineering, threat hunting, SOC, MDR, or incident response.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to all parts of the detection lifecycle by creating new rules, testing them before deployment, monitoring efficacy, and tuning, promoting, or retiring rules based on their performance.
• Develop rules across Huntress products and OSs including ITDR, SIEM, EDR, Windows, Linux, and macOS.
• Manage DE&TH requests internally or escalated from partners.
• Undertake hypothesis-driven hunts across Huntress telemetry, prioritizing techniques and tradecraft that may evade high-fidelity detections and initial SOC review.
• Translate threat intelligence and findings into new or refined detections through Git-based workflows.
• Build and refine hunting dashboards or queries to surface potential intrusions.
• Review ambiguous signs of attacker activity across Huntress products, surfacing likely intrusions needing deeper investigation.
• Investigate or elevate likely intrusions to provide clear incident reports to partners.
• Contribute findings to community projects and create Huntress content (blogs, social posts, videos, podcasts, webinars).
• Use AI-assisted workflows to prototype queries and enrich analysis, embedding AI in core workflows with sound judgment.
