Job summary

The University of Virginia Information Technology Services (ITS) seeks a Senior Database Administrator for the Student Information System (SIS). This role maintains the Oracle/PeopleSoft database and related infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable access to student data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent experience may substitute.
• At least five years as an Oracle Database Administrator.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong foundation in SQL.

Responsibilities

• Install and sustain database infrastructure components supporting PeopleSoft student applications, including servers and connectivity.
• Apply database infrastructure patches for PeopleSoft; monitor and tune performance.
• Develop and execute backup, recovery, and refresh procedures.
• Collaborate with system and network teams to maintain secure SIS environment.
• Manage security certificates and encryption keys for SIS applications.
• Migrate data via data extracts and data loads.
