Job summary

US Foods, Inc. is seeking a Sr Data Scientist for remote work across the United States (excluding Hawaii and territories). The role focuses on advanced forecasting, optimization, and ML for supply chain, with responsibilities spanning data exploration, feature engineering, and deployment of production-grade models.

You will lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior scientists, and drive end-to-end ML projects from ideation through deployment, including documentation and model monitoring.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in data science/mathematics/CS/statistics or similar field and 3+ years of experience OR Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience in data science
• Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work and communicate effectively with team members and cross-functional teams
• An expert-level understanding of topics including time series forecasting, optimization, ML/DL, model evaluation and metrics, cross-validation, hyperparameter tuning and more
• Working knowledge of Agile/SCRUM methodologies with 1-2 years of experience and understanding of epics, features, tasks
• Experience with cloud platforms and handling large datasets in cloud environments
• Proficiency with APIs, CI/CD, DevOps and MLOps principles
• Production-grade coding in Bash, Python, and SQL; ability to optimize code and build custom solutions
• Experience navigating data lakes, training datasets, and feature stores
• Version control (Git) and collaboration in ML projects
• Ability to lead junior team members and guide best practices

Responsibilities

• Lead forecasting, optimization and ML model development for supply chain problems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align ML solutions with business needs
• Produce production-ready ML pipelines, documentation, and model drift/remodeling plans
• Mentor junior data scientists and promote best practices in the team
• Coordinate deployment readiness with ML/DevOps aspects
• Develop model feasibility documents and baseline models
• Advance coding standards and contribute to governance of ML projects
• Prepare and present results to stakeholders and product management team
