Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum division is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build, secure, and optimize end-to-end data analytics, reporting, and AI-powered solutions on Azure. You will leverage Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake, and Power BI to create scalable data platforms and automate enterprise workflows.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of data engineering experience with emphasis on cloud data warehousing, ETL orchestration, and analytics hosting.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and managing Azure cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Virtual Networks)
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building data pipelines and workflows using Apache Airflow and Snowflake
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure cloud infrastructure, including Azure Networking (VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints) and Azure Privileged Identity Management (PIM) / Entra ID
• 1+ years of experience building and supporting data models for reporting and business intelligence platforms such as Power BI
• 1+ years of experience remediating infrastructure, network, and application security vulnerabilities in enterprise cloud environments

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain data pipelines and analytics solutions using Apache Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake, and Power BI on Azure cloud infrastructure
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions and data integrations to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on responsible AI practices
• Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows and automate data engineering tasks
• Implement and manage secure Azure Networking components (VNets, Private Endpoints, NSGs) to protect data solutions
• Enforce least-privilege security models and access governance using Azure PIM and RBAC
• Identify, investigate, and remediate security vulnerabilities across infrastructure, networking, and applications
• Evaluate emerging technology and AI trends to inform solution design and platform architecture
• Collaborate with delivery teams to streamline data platform deployments and monitoring
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions addressing complex business challenges with responsible use of AI
