Job summary

Agilent Technologies Inc. seeks a data architect to own discovery and access for a federated platform serving scientific data to products, workflows, and AI agents. You will define target state, schemas, and contracts across data catalogs and access layers, guiding modernization from on-premises to hybrid or cloud deployments.

You will collaborate with engineering to validate designs, read code, and build proofs of concept while ensuring governance and data provenance across systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software/ data engineering or architecture with distributed systems.
• Defined architecture ahead of standards and governance and can show decisions that held up or changed.
• Produced architecture for production systems in data catalogs, search, or API/federated data access.
• Writes SQL and reads execution plans in PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
• Built and run data pipelines with recovery and backfill.
• Reads production code in a typed language (C#, Java, TypeScript).
• Uses AI tools in architecture and data work and can show the process.

Responsibilities

• Define target state for catalog and access paths and contract boundaries.
• Own schemas and contracts: catalogs, subgraph boundaries, data service views.
• Design access paths for AI agents with provenance and controls.
• Review integrations against contracts and program requirements.
• Plan modernization of legacy sources for on-prem to hybrid/cloud.
