Job summary

Kovalus Company seeks a Sr. Process Engineer- Liquid and Cheese to join our Cheese Group Process Engineering team.

This full-time role focuses on designing, optimizing, and supporting liquid and cheese processing systems from concept to startup. The ideal candidate has a chemical/mechanical/biomedical/electrical engineering background with 5+ years in sanitary dairy processing, and can manage multiple projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, bio-systems, or electrical engineering.
• 5+ years’ experience in the sanitary dairy process industry.
• Mass and energy balance calculations and heat transfer knowledge.
• Piping system flow/pressure calculations; pump/valve sizing.
• Familiarity with 3-A, ASME, FDA, USDA standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work with cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Audit and review customer process lines.
• Collaborate on cheese process design per customer needs.
• Provide input on input parameters affecting engineered solutions.
• Support proposals with technical input, sizing estimates, PFDs, and P&IDs.
• Assist sales with on-site and remote customer meetings.
• Review proposals before delivery to customers.
• Prepare detailed mass/energy balance calculations and heat transfer analyses.
• Collaborate with vendors to specify process equipment.
• Create technical documentation (P&IDs, process descriptions).
• Lead commissioning, startup, and performance verification at client sites.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues.
• Provide training for operators and maintenance staff.
