Job summary

ECS Federal LLC is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to work remotely. You will apply deep technical expertise with regulatory compliance, strategic planning, and cross-functional leadership to protect Veterans’ data and VA systems.

Salary Range: $165,000 - $200,000. The role emphasizes zero-trust design, threat mitigation, and collaboration with VA stakeholders to meet FedRAMP and federal security standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for Tier 5 background investigation.
• 8+ years in cybersecurity operations, ideally federal or VA environment.
• 8+ years securing networks, cloud, and hybrid architectures with zero-trust.
• 8+ years designing and implementing secure architectures and zero-trust models.
• 8+ years scripting for security tasks (Python/PowerShell/Bash).
• Deep understanding of firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, network segmentation, TCP/IP, wireless security.
• Knowledge of NIST, SANS, CIS frameworks; security standards (FedRAMP, ISO, SOC 2).
• Moderate to advanced knowledge of Windows, Linux, VMs, containers, servers.
• Familiarity with federal regs (FISMA, HIPAA for VA) and mapping controls to compliance.
• Support ZTA initiatives; enforce access controls across cloud/on-prem.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments; remediation planning; VA collaboration.
• Certifications such as CISSP/CISM/CASP/CRISC/CEH/GSLC meet DoD 8140 needs.

Responsibilities

• Protect Veterans’ data and VA systems through secure design and operations.
• Design and implement zero-trust architectures across cloud and on-prem.
• Collaborate with VA stakeholders to ensure FedRAMP and VA security compliance.
• Develop and enforce security policies aligned with regulatory standards.
• Lead cross-functional security initiatives and communicate risks to stakeholders.
