Job summary

Applied Signal Technology (AST) is seeking a Senior Multi-Disciplined Systems Architect to strengthen national security capabilities. This REMOTE role reports to our San Jose, CA office and collaborates across cybersecurity, systems engineering, and operations teams.

You will lead the design and implementation of robust cybersecurity strategies, develop automation workflows with Ansible, and mentor junior engineers while supporting audit readiness and compliance with DoD standards.

Qualifications

• STEM degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to administer RHEL and NetApp storage.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
• Security standards knowledge (DoD/CIS) and scripting basics.

Responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity mitigation strategy aligned with NIST/DoD.
• Collaborate with cyber teams to monitor systems and logs.
• Develop automation workflows using industry tools.
• Manage hardware/software issues across physical and virtual environments (VMware).
• Coordinate with operations, supply chain and legal for mission objectives.
• Support audit readiness and respond to vulnerabilities.
• Mentor junior system administrators.
• Resolve incidents via ticketing system; travel up to 15%.
