Job summary

FORTNA is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to drive design, functionality and testing of upper-level automated sortation systems. The candidate will lead and assist in design and programming of new projects, diagnosing and solving controls I/O, hardware and software issues, and providing leadership to junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable field.
• 4–7 years in industrial controls with PLC programming experience.
• Experience with Rockwell PLCs and HMIs; familiarity with other vendors.
• Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus and related networks.
• Low voltage design and robust troubleshooting ability.
• VFD experience and MS 365 proficiency.
• Equivalent work experience considered in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

• Write and implement modular PLC code for projects and on-site tasks.
• Design and develop HMI using Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk View or Optix.
• Program PLC/HMI to meet design specs and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors and project managers to ensure design accuracy.
• Commission and troubleshoot complex automated systems and document as-built drawings.
• Support system commissioning and provide site engineering support.
