Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Azure Synapse Data Engineer and Data Modeller to lead ingestion and modeling in a large-scale analytics environment, focusing on Azure Synapse and Data Vault methodologies for robust data solutions. The role is remote with collaboration across stakeholders and leadership.

You will build pipelines with Synapse Pipelines, Python/PySpark automation, manage data sources, and govern deployments with Git and CI/CD, while ensuring security and privacy

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Azure Synapse Analytics, pipelines, notebooks, and SQL pools.
• Expertise in Data Vault data modeling and methodology.
• Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 — architecture, management, security.
• Proficiency in Python and PySpark for data processing and automation.
• Advanced skills in T-SQL for complex queries and procedures.
• Extensive experience building ETL/ELT workflows with modern orchestration tools.
• Experience with RESTful API design and integration.
• Knowledge of Azure Functions and Logic Apps for event-driven solutions.
• Strong understanding of security protocols, including Azure RBAC, Managed Identities, Key Vault.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.

Responsibilities

• Create and build data ingestion pipelines using Azure Synapse Pipelines, Azure Functions, and Synapse Notebooks
• Develop scripts in Python or PySpark for automation
• Extract data from diverse sources including APIs, databases, flat files, and other cloud or on-premise systems
• Maintain and optimize Synapse Dedicated SQL Pools for data storage and analytical queries
• Manage code using Git for source control and CI/CD, ensuring governed deployment across environments
• Automate failure handling, alerts, and retries to minimize operational overhead
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data meets business needs and is delivered on time
• Provide technical troubleshooting, issue resolution, and continuous support for data delivery pipelines
• Ensure adherence to security, privacy, and development guidelines
• Document processes and data flows for transparency and knowledge sharing
• Identify opportunities for standardization and automate data maintenance processes
• Foster a data-driven culture and advocate for data management benefits
• Engage with leadership and functional leads to ensure alignment and support
