Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and maintain Azure-based data architecture powering fraud analytics for a federal OIG. You will build secure pipelines and enable audits, investigations, and ML workloads with a code-first approach.

Handling ELT/ETL in Azure Synapse and AML, you will ensure scalable, auditable data flows and artifacts. Telework remote with occasional on-site collaboration as needed.

Qualifications

• 5 years maintaining SQL databases and advanced operations in SQL and T-SQL.
• 5 years designing, implementing, and maintaining ELT/ETL processes in cloud-based data analytics environments.
• 3 years working in Azure Synapse and Azure Machine Learning with the modern data stack (DP-203 or equivalent).
• 3 years manipulating data in Python (Pandas required; PySpark/Polars preferred).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain an efficient, secure, stable, and flexible data architecture with source control.
• Migrate source data to ADLS and build/maintain ELT/ETL pipelines in Azure Synapse and AML.
• Review and improve existing architecture and pipelines with periodic audits to address bottlenecks.
• Establish quality controls, error handling, logging, and validation checks across all pipelines.
• Normalize entity attributes (addresses, phone numbers, and other fields).
• Optimize ingestion, processing, and storage across datasets, including Parquet formats.
• Build self-service capabilities so analysts can query and export data for investigations and audits.
• Partner with data scientists to support ML workloads and document pipelines and SOPs.
• Produce data dictionaries, ER diagrams, and process maps; stay current with AI tooling and LLM patterns.
