Description
Acara Solutions is seeking a highly capable contract Interim Senior Accountant to support our client's finance team during a period of transition and growth, including post-acquisition integration. This role will focus on general accounting, tax compliance, and onboarding of newly acquired entities into our financial systems and processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable navigating both routine and project-based workstreams.
Please note, this role is temp/contract with an expected duration of 3-4 months. This role is fully remote, and the contractor can be based anywhere in the US.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Reporting:
- Assist in monthly close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze financial statements
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and external regulatory requirements
Tax Compliance & Support:
- Review VAT, state, and local tax filings
- Respond to tax notices
- Maintain organized tax documentation and ensure audit readiness
M&A Onboarding:
- Assist with financial and operational integration of newly acquired companies
- Reconcile and map acquired entities' accounts to corporate chart of accounts
- Support consolidation of financial data and ensure accurate reporting during transition
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, HR, IT, operations) to ensure smooth integration
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to tax and M&A-related work
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Understanding local taxation, and financial reporting
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Acumatica, Concur, Bill.com, Citibank, JP Morgan) and advanced Excel skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities
- Experience onboarding acquired entities or integrating financial systems post-M&A
- Industry experience in software
