Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Security Operations Analyst to join our Information Security team in a fully remote, long-term W2 contract in the United States. You will defend critical systems, triage alerts, and work with senior security personnel to strengthen our security posture.

Responsibilities include monitoring Microsoft Defender/Sentinel, handling incidents, gathering evidence, and supporting vulnerability remediation across endpoints and cloud.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in cybersecurity, IT, CS, or related field.
• 1–3 years hands-on cybersecurity, system administration, IT support, or networking experience.
• Demonstrated passion for security through labs, coursework, internships, or projects.
• Solid understanding of core information security concepts: endpoint defense, IAM, vulnerability management, incident response.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 environments, Windows, and cloud computing architecture.
• Strong diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Clear verbal and written communication to convey findings to diverse audiences.
• Willingness to learn new defensive technologies and adapt to threats.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate, and triage security alerts across Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Identify false positives, validate threats, and escalate high-priority incidents per IR workflows.
• Assist in incident handling for phishing, malware, ransomware, identity compromise, and unauthorized access.
• Preserve digital evidence for forensic analysis and post-incident reporting.
• Coordinate with IT to track and verify vulnerability remediations across endpoints and cloud.
• Refine detection logic, alert thresholds, dashboards, and automated workflows.
• Document details in ticketing/case management systems for operational improvement.
• Participate in on-call rotations and support during high-severity incidents.
