Job Description
The Remote Security Captain provides services for a variety of large and small business clients in remote settings where health, safety, and security are our top priorities. This position oversees and supports security operations in remote environments, performing duties in line with NMS’ mission, vision, and values.
Responsibilities
- Assign personnel to posts or patrols; interpret security rules and procedures.
- Supervise security operation procedures and activities for clients.
- Develop a deep understanding of business demands, document complex processes, and manage staffing needs.
- Translate business needs into functional requirements with proper documentation.
- Prepare work schedules and review leave requests.
- Communicate regularly with clients to assist with security matters and improve services.
- Handle and resolve irregularity reports appropriately.
- Manage various business-related paperwork.
- Conduct security investigations.
- Review data such as property damage and incident reports to determine actions.
- Coordinate with agencies for cooperation and support.
- Manage post orders, updates, and revisions.
- Be on-call during off-hours.
- Potentially assume Incident Command role during incidents.
- Provide transportation using various vehicles, including passenger and off-road vehicles.
- Administer emergency medical interventions, including CPR and AED.
- Perform additional duties pertinent to the department's success.
- Supervise staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years of post-secondary education or equivalent security, military, or law enforcement experience.
- Minimum of ten years of professional security, law enforcement, or military experience.
- At least five years of supervisory experience in a related field.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain and pay for Alaska Guard License and State of Alaska Armed Guard License.
- Effective training skills for security staff and general security training.
- Knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS).
- Eligibility for certifications like TWIC, ATF Explosive Possessor card.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and contract-specific software.
- Pass pre-employment requirements, including drug tests and physical assessments.
- Ability to live in dormitory-style settings and meet cleanliness standards.
- Teamwork and decision-making skills with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to stand for 12-hour shifts and perform physical tasks.
- Proficiency in English.
