Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Section 508 PDF Remediation Expert in Washington, DC to ensure accessible reports and forms. You will remediate complex PDFs, verify conformance to 508/WCAG/PDF/UA, and develop accessible Word/InDesign templates, including VBA automation. The role requires 5+ years of experience, proficiency with Acrobat Pro and accessibility tools, and ability to obtain a Public Trust as a U.S.

citizen. Remote work is possible; the position is full-time with standard daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field; 4 years experience in lieu accepted.
• 5+ years of PDF accessibility remediation experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust requiring U.S. Citizenship.
• Expert knowledge of Section 508, WCAG 2.x, and PDF/UA standards.
• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro, tagging, reading order, and Preflight tools.
• Experience with automated accessibility remediation tools like CommonLook or PAC.
• Experience with Word and InDesign accessibility features.
• Experience testing with assistive technologies such as JAWS or NVDA.

Responsibilities

• Create Section 508 accessible PDF versions from Word source files using accessibility tools.
• Remediate complex PDFs and internal forms using Acrobat Pro and accessibility plugins.
• Validate remediated documents against 508, WCAG 2.x, and PDF/UA using automated checkers and assistive tech.
• Review/modify PDFs for print vendors to meet printing specs.
• Create/modify accessible Word and InDesign templates, including VBA automation.
• Meet defined turnaround times and quality standards for accessible versions.
• Provide guidance and training on accessible Microsoft Office and InDesign documents.
• Investigate automation/AI enhancements for remediation processes.
• Document remediation procedures and contribute to SOPs/runbooks.
• Collaborate with Information Management, developers, QA, and security for data/metadata flows.
• Maintain technical documentation and release notes.
