Job summary

The State of Washington Employment Security Department seeks a Software Development Engineer in Test to ensure enterprise applications meet quality standards. You will analyze requirements, design test plans, and work with cross‑functional teams to validate features before production.

This is a full‑time, primarily telework role with occasional office meetings within the ITSD Enterprise Applications Testing Team. Experience with automated testing, databases, and agile methods is preferred.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years’ experience in IT quality assurance.
• Associate’s degree in IT or related field + 4 years QA experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field + 2 years QA experience.
• Experience querying relational databases.
• Experience scripting and/or building automated tests in OO languages.
• Experience planning, designing, and executing manual and automated tests.
• Experience reporting software defects.

Responsibilities

• Develop EA test plans by gaining product understanding.
• Break down backlog items and identify test needs.
• Set up test environments and coordinates resources.
• Create, run, and manage test cases and results, including automated tests.
