Job summary

Calibr-Skaggs Institute for Innovative Medicines, a division of Scripps Research, seeks a Science Writer II to join the Science Communication group. The role blends scientific writing and graphic design to support grant proposals, clinical/regulatory documents, and press materials.

Experience in biomedical writing, grant development, and collaboration with internal teams is essential. This position can be on site in La Jolla, CA or remote; if remote, travel to La Jolla 3–4 times per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in a relevant subject; Master's/PhD preferred.
• 3+ years of grant-writing or funded proposal experience.
• Strong understanding of biomedical science (biology/chemistry).
• Experience with AI-based writing tools and graphics.
• Ability to work across multiple projects and teams.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and review grant proposals for diverse funders.
• Develop scientific communications and graphics for grants and press.
• Collaborate with program teams and external partners.
• Ensure regulatory and pre-award documentation is accurate.
