Job summary

Welfare Footprint Institute seeks a Science Communications Officer or Lead to translate the Welfare Footprint Framework into clear, accurate materials for researchers, educators and practitioners. The role emphasizes precision in science communication while enabling broad accessibility, with a fully remote setup and a salary range of USD 65,000–105,000 per year.

You will partner with leadership to develop online training courses, practitioner certification materials, media kits and newsletters.

Qualifications

Experience communicating scientific content to diverse audiences clearly.
Ability to read scientific papers critically and summarize methods and results.
Fluency in written and spoken English with precise scientific prose.
Attention to scientific detail in sources, numbers and claims.
Ability to learn and explain the Welfare Footprint Framework.

Responsibilities

Turn scientific research into clear articles, summaries, presentations, scripts and visuals.
Produce teaching materials for university courses and workshops, including slides and exercises.
Develop and maintain online course and practitioner certification content.
Create resources for independent learning, including tutorials and FAQs.
Prepare scientifically informed interview questions and help researchers present their work.
Provide online learner support and escalate when scientific judgment is needed.
Use feedback to improve materials and address misunderstandings.
Maintain and update WFI website and social media content.
Develop WFI's newsletter and communications.
Coordinate production, review and publication of materials on schedule.
Develop and use AI workflows to create videos, animations and interactive content, ensuring accuracy with the research team.
