Job summary

Florida Virtual School is seeking a School-Based Mental Health Services Counselor/Provider for a 12-month term, based in the Florida HOME OFFICE. The role focuses on direct counseling, student well-being, and collaboration with families and staff to promote emotional health.

Qualified applicants will hold a Master’s degree in a related field and a valid Florida license in an approved discipline. Three years of experience with children in education and five years in mental health/crisis

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Behavior Health Sciences, Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field.
• Valid license by the State of Florida in one of the disciplines listed (School Psychology, Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology).
• Three years of experience working with children in education or related field; five years in mental health/crisis counseling.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact between parents and Florida Virtual School on mental health wellness.
• Provide counseling and community referrals for students; participate in threat assessment teams.
• Coordinate with teachers and staff on mental health supports and interventions.
• Deliver trainings on Youth Mental Health First Aid; support state mandates.
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for students.
