Job summary

Thefreelancefirm is seeking a South Carolina licensed Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney for remote, contract-based work. Initially light workload, ramping to about 10–15 hours per week with deposition and hearing coverage as needed.

Responsibilities include drafting pleadings and discovery, preparing carrier reports, and supporting two active caseloads. Starting pay is $80/hour, with remote drafting and in-person appearances when required.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.
• Minimum of 5+ years of law firm experience.
• Experience drafting pleadings and discovery responses.
• Comfortable handling depositions and hearings.
• Familiar with insurance carrier billing requirements.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Available for 10–15 hours per week as workload increases.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, answers, and other court filings.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery.
• Draft and assist with carrier reports.
• Attend hearings and court appearances as needed.
• Support insurance defense case management.
• Maintain regular communication with supervising attorneys.
• Track assignments and meet deadlines and billing requirements.
