Remote Robotics Annotation Specialist — Contractor

RemoteJobsOne; Charlotte (NC); Remote; USD 69,000 - 124,000; Full time

Job summary

RemoteJobsOne is seeking a Robotics Expert contractor to label robotic system videos by watching footage of robotic arms and applying precise annotations according to detailed guidelines.

Candidates with a robotics or engineering background, strong attention to detail, and ability to follow strict written guidelines will succeed; prior video annotation helps but is not required, and the role is fully remote with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Background in robotics, mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience with robotic arms or robotic systems, whether in industry, research, or lab settings.
• Solid understanding of robot motion control, grasping, perception, and sensors.
• Able to tell the difference between correct and faulty robot behavior just by watching it.
• Strong attention to detail and the patience to stay consistent across long sessions of similar footage.
• Comfortable following written technical guidelines precisely.
• Clear written and verbal communication for working with a remote team.
• Previous video annotation or data labeling experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Watch video recordings of robotic arms performing tasks and annotate them following a detailed set of guidelines.
• Tag actions, events, and errors in each video session, marking where each action starts and ends.
• Judge whether the robot completed the task correctly, and label failures such as missed grasps, dropped objects, poor paths, or inaccurate positioning.
• Apply the labeling rules the same way across every session so the data stays consistent.
• Flag unclear or borderline cases to project managers instead of guessing, and help resolve them.
• Use your knowledge of robot motion, perception, sensors, and integration to explain what went wrong when a robot fails.
• Suggest improvements to the annotation guidelines when you find gaps or repeated confusion.
• Complete assigned annotation volume on time and at the required quality level.
