Job summary

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is seeking a Risk and Compliance Analyst to support conflict checks, CDD/AML screenings, and research for prospective clients and matters. This role works closely with Ethics Attorneys and various internal departments to ensure compliance and timely processing of requests.

The position offers full remote work capabilities with residency requirements in eligible states, reporting to the Risk and Compliance Managers.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of conflicts, new business intake, financial crimes, AML and/or compliance experience.
• Experience onboarding new clients and matters via a conflicts application like Intapp Open.
• Familiarity with third-party research tools such as Compliance Catalyst, S&P, and BVD/Orbis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct conflict checks and corporate research on prospective clients and related parties.
• Process client, matter, third party payor, and other requests to identify conflicts of interest and compliance issues.
• Perform client due diligence (CDD/KYC/AML) for risk levels from simple to enhanced due diligence.
• Collaborate with Ethics Attorneys to clear conflicts and assess red flags.
• Coordinate with Cash and Finance for approvals related to payments.
• Support lateral hire and attorney recruiting processes ensuring accurate information.
• Handle correspondence and engagement/confirmation letters via DocuSign.
• Assist in matter disposition and audit letter responses.
• Respond to inquiries from attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries.
