Job summary

University Health Network seeks a Certified Medical Coder to focus on risk adjustment for the clinically integrated network tied to UT Medical Center and UPA. The role is remote with occasional on-site meetings; candidate must reside in the Knoxville, TN region and maintain HIPAA privacy from home.

The coder will perform detailed documentation reviews and accurate coding using ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers for professional services related to UTMC and UPA.

Qualifications

• Current CPC or RHIT certification is required.
• CRC certification required within 6 months of hire.
• 2+ years of medical coding in ambulatory care.
• Experience with HCC coding and chronic illness management.
• Strong communication and time management skills; detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Code using ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and modifiers for professional services.
• Review clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance with coding standards.
• Collaborate with providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures.
• Use CMS/HHS risk adjustment tools to identify HCC opportunities.
• Maintain HIPAA privacy and stay compliant with guidelines.
• Meet daily production and quality goals; participate in team meetings.
