Job summary

Snorkel AI, a frontier AI data lab, seeks a Research Scientist to advance data and environments for AI agents. You will design reusable pipelines, combine real-world data with automated generation and human input, and scale these pipelines to improve frontier model performance.

You will work with domain experts, customers, and cross-functional teams to turn research into reliable production workflows, publish findings, and help Snorkel stay at the forefront of data-centric AI.

Qualifications

• PhD in machine learning, NLP, or related field preferred; equivalent industry or research lab experience considered.
• Experience building environments for AI agents in automated research or domain workflows.
• Experience with synthetic data generation, human-in-the-loop workflows, reinforcement learning, agent environments, or model evaluation.
• Strong experimental design skills, including defining hypotheses and conducting ablations.
• Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g., clean coding, modular design, version control).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize reusable pipelines that combine AI capabilities with expert judgment.
• Design and run rigorous experiments to validate approaches and measure impact on data quality and model performance.
• Partner with engineering, data operations, domain experts, and customers to turn research prototypes into production workflows.
• Work with domain experts to design and test workflows for data and environments.
• Collaborate across data operations, product, and engineering to surface findings for the company roadmap.
• Stay at the frontier of data and agentic environment research and bring best practices into workflows.
• Represent Snorkel's research externally through publications, talks, and customer engagements.
