Job summary

University of Louisville is seeking a Research Grants Specialist I to review, process, and facilitate external sponsor proposals and awards. The role ensures compliance with institutional, state, and sponsor guidelines and collaborates with Research and Innovation staff to manage the sponsored programs portfolio.

The position supports basic and applied research activities, including human/animal subjects and biosafety considerations, and may be eligible for remote work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of federal requirements for compliance and sponsor guidelines.
• Ability to coordinate with investigators and departmental staff.

Responsibilities

• Guide investigators on proposal components: budgets, scopes of work, and biosketches.
• Ensure proposals comply with institutional, state, and sponsor rules.
• Facilitate award processing and ensure terms align with guidelines.
• Oversee use of sponsor electronic systems and ensure data accuracy.
• Finalize proposal submissions to meet sponsor deadlines.
