Job summary

Wayne State University is seeking an experienced Research Data Assistant for the Center for Social Work Research at its Detroit campus. The role supports data collection, entry, cleaning, and reporting to meet grant requirements and federal/state reporting specifications.

Responsibilities include maintaining data in reporting systems, assisting with SPARS submissions, and supporting qualitative and quantitative analyses.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, or degree in progress.
• Experience supporting social science research or evaluation projects.
• Experience entering, verifying, coding, or managing data.
• Experience with behavioral health, substance use, or related service systems.
• Experience with federal or state reporting requirements.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams; ability to learn new databases quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with the supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Support data collection, entry, cleaning, coding, verification, and organization across multiple research projects.
• Enter and maintain client-level and project-level data in reporting systems.
• Submit required records in SPARS or similar systems on a schedule.
• Identify data discrepancies and help resolve errors.
• Conduct basic descriptive analyses as directed.
