Job summary

National Council of Urban Indian Health (NCUIH) seeks a TARC Research Associate to support research, data systems, and program evaluation across NCUIH’s funded portfolio. Initial tasks include evaluating Humana and SAMHSA projects, plus needs assessments for OMH and HRSA, with a focus on data tools and partner data validation.

The role develops data tools, conducts supervised analysis, and prepares findings to help UIOs improve services, under senior leadership guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in public health, epidemiology, behavioral health, statistics or a related field.
• At least two years in research, public health evaluation or data coordination with data handling.
• Experience with Excel, survey tools and structured datasets; document measures and validate records.
• Strong writing and organization; ability to meet deadlines and follow evaluation methods.
• Ability to work respectfully with American Indian/Alaska Native communities and uphold confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain evaluation plans, measures, data dictionaries, and tracking templates.
• Track referrals and care connections for partnered UI0s within 72 hours using defined data.
• Validate monthly data, maintain corrections logs and liaise with data contacts.
• Maintain evaluation datasets and dashboards; prepare quarterly findings for reports.
• Support pre/post-assessments of provider training and outreach targets.
• Conduct literature reviews and support surveys and needs assessments.
• Perform descriptive and qualitative analysis; create clear summaries for leadership.
• Coordinate data collection schedules and share findings to improve tools.
• Protect confidentiality and Indigenous data sovereignty; use approved practices.
• Engage in project management tasks and additional duties as assigned.
