Job summary

RFCUNY is seeking a student with data science training to work on a marine ecosystem project. The role blends computer programming and data analysis, to model polyphosphate storage in marine phytoplankton.

This is a remote, part-time opportunity funded for 100 hours during Fall 2026. Responsibilities include data analysis, literature review, and model development, with weekly PI meetings to track progress and set objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering, or mathematical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of at least one programming language (R or Python) with data analysis experience.
• Experience using scientific visualization libraries such as ggplot.
• Interest in data analysis of marine ecological systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist PI with data analysis, literature review, and model development.
• Participate in weekly meetings with PI to set objectives and review progress.
• Support other duties as assigned.
