Job summary

Humana is seeking a Records Retrieval Specialist to support risk adjustment efforts in the Northern Virginia area. This remote role combines field-based travel to provider offices with on-site validation of medical records and ICD-9/10 coding, reporting to the Risk Adjustment Supervisor.

You will securely handle PHI, use company devices, and collaborate with physicians by phone and email to obtain records, while maintaining HIPAA compliance and meeting production and quality targets.

Qualifications

• 1+ year in customer service
• 1+ year with medical records
• 1+ year using Microsoft 365 apps (Teams/Outlook)
• Experience managing high-volume workloads with prompt follow-up
• Experience articulating information to internal/external partners
• Experience in health care environment/managed care
• Valid state driver(s) license and vehicle insurance per Humana policy

Responsibilities

• Collect, validate, and reconcile medical records and obtain required provider signatures
• Upload verified documentation to Cotiviti repository while maintaining data integrity
• Adhere to HIPAA and internal policies when retrieving, handling, and storing PHI
• Apply departmental procedures to complete assignments accurately and efficiently
• Use company devices to securely retrieve and manage medical records
• Proactively engage physician offices to obtain records via high-volume phone and email outreach
• Maintain confidentiality of PHI at all times
• Manage high-volume workload independently meeting productivity, quality, and service-level expectations
