Job summary

ASAM in Rockville, MD is seeking an Associate Director, Quality Improvement to support development of clinical practice guidelines and evidence reviews. The role collaborates with the CPG methodology committee and QIC to advance guideline methodology and dissemination.

The position requires strong literature review, writing, and addiction science expertise, with flexible remote work options and full-time employment. Open date 10-1-2026.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years for associate director or 4+ years for director in literature reviews and science writing
• Experience interpreting and summarizing scholarly research in oral and written formats
• Deep understanding of addiction science or addiction treatment
• Experience managing and facilitating expert committees
• Experience with MS Office products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

Responsibilities

• Staff committees and subcommittees related to ASAM clinical document development
• Support literature review planning, searches, screening and data extraction
• Communicate findings to expert committees and assist in voting on recommendations
• Draft synthesis of evidence and discussions guiding guidance documents
• Develop materials for dissemination of ASAM guidelines and clinical documents
• Engage ASAM members and stakeholder groups such as agencies and societies
• Support ongoing activities of ASAM's Quality and Science Department
• Develop understanding of ASAM's clinical practice guidelines
