Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a senior React Software Engineer to rebuild customer-facing applications from the ground up. You will lead modern front-end architecture, migrate from legacy Spring Boot/Thymeleaf, and define design systems, tooling, and DevSecOps practices.

Collaborate with architects, backend engineers, DevOps, security, and product teams to deliver fast, secure web apps and reusable components across products. This is a fully remote role within the United States.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years building production applications with React.
• Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills.
• Deep knowledge of modern front-end architecture and design patterns.
• Experience with state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, React Query).
• Experience consuming RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.
• Strong understanding of responsive design and accessibility (WCAG).
• Experience with automated testing (Jest, RTL, Cypress, Playwright).
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud-native deployments and containers.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and secure software development.
• Experience in Agile product teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of modern React/TypeScript web apps.
• Define front-end architecture, libraries, state management, routing, and API patterns.
• Migrate legacy Spring Boot/Thymeleaf apps to a decoupled front-end architecture.
• Collaborate with backend teams to build REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Establish engineering standards for quality, testing, accessibility, performance, and security.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for front-end apps in a DevSecOps environment.
• Incorporate automated testing and security validation into the lifecycle.
• Champion reusable UI components and design systems across products.
• Mentor engineers and grow front-end capabilities across the team.
• Evaluate emerging front-end tech and recommend improvements.
