Job summary

Optum Technology seeks a Quality Engineer to ensure reliability, performance, and quality of software powering health services nationwide. You will design and execute test strategies, build robust automation, and improve QA across cross-functional teams.

This role offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., with in-office requirements for Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area hires four days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of software quality engineering or software development experience.
• 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance and quality engineering.
• 2+ years of hands-on test automation experience using tools/frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or JUnit/TestNG.
• 2+ years of experience with API testing using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or SoapUI.
• 2+ years of experience writing SQL queries for data validation and database testing.
• 1+ years of experience working within an Agile/Scrum development environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for web applications, APIs, and microservices.
• Collaborate with software developers, system architects, and product owners to define acceptance criteria, test strategies, and quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Execute manual and automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end tests to validate application performance and usability.
• Identify, log, track, and manage software defects to resolution using defect management and issue-tracking tools.
• Integrate automated test suites into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to enable continuous testing.
• Analyze testing results, generate quality metrics, and report test coverage and risk assessments to technical and leadership stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and architectural discussions to advocate for quality engineering best practices.
